All-new parts, freshly built. Originally intended for this to be my brother's first PC, and started acquiring parts around Christmas last year, but only recently built the system. However, the unique desk size and shape we are limited to means that the computer cannot sit on the desk, and takes up most of the legroom when placed under the desk, so my brother has decided he'd prefer a laptop. This leaves this system surplus to requirements, but is still brand new - a shame, as I think it turned out quite well. To recreate this system today, the parts would cost in excess of £1,300 excluding a windows license. Performance (tested using a 180hz 1080p monitor): 3DMark 41.37fps in Steel Nomad Rocket league ~800 frames per second (fps), max settings Fortnite ~250fps, 'competitive' settings; native rasterisation, everything set to lowest except maximum view distance, ~150fps when rendering at 1440p Star Wars: Jedi Survivor ~80fps, max settings, ray tracing (RT) enabled. Cyberpunk 2077 (built-in benchmark) ~110fps, native rasterisation, ultra settings, low RT. The 7800XT is an extremely capable GPU, with enough graphical horsepower to easily run competitive games at competitive framerates at 1440p, and even 4k for many titles where the CPU is a much less limiting factor. 16GB of video memory, or VRAM, ensures peace of mind that your system can handle whatever graphical scenario you care to throw at it. Temperatures and consequent noise levels are perfectly acceptable, and though the CPU jumped to almost full load whenever a new game of Fortnite began, this never lasted long and in-game the system is pleasingly quiet (fan curves can be edited further in the BIOS). Upgradeability: The motherboard, which boasts built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, is capable of supporting all AM5 CPUs via the built-in BIOS flashback capability, and the AM5 socket itself is supported through to at least 2027. The 750-watt PSU is ample for the system's needs, and could accommodate a number of more powerful CPUs, even a carefully chosen GPU upgrade. This combined with the generous size of the case, whilst not being too large, means that this system is ready to accept new, updated hardware at a later date. This flexibility ought to provide a truly high-end gaming experience for years to come. Software: A fresh, product-keyed (i.e. legitimate and non-watermarked) copy of Windows is installed, along with a handful of useful apps including AMD Adrenaline, Steam, the Epic Games launcher, MSI Afterburner and Signal RGB (full control over lighting, including peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc). I opted for red to match the GPU). All drivers (software packages for components like the GPU and motherboard) are up-to-date. 4x furniture feat are also included to facilitate use on carpet without choking the downward-facing PSU.
